That Song by Meghan Trainor, “All About That Bass”, that totally swept the nation; The song that people just couldn’t get out of their heads. What if … Beyonce sang it instead? A small change like that would have made a huge difference, right? Majority of us probably would have never known who Trainor was if it weren’t for that song. Surprisingly, loads of career-defining tracks were actually originally created with another artist in mind. Offered to others, but turned down either because it didn’t fit their image or they just didn’t really like it. So here’s a list of a couple hit-songs and the musicians they were supposed to go to!
1. “Since U Been Gone” – Kelly Clarkson
First offered to P!nk by Dr. Luke and Max Martin, but when she turned it down, that’s when they reached out to Hilary Duff. Clive Davis convinced them instead to give the song to Clarkson, who ended up putting it on her album “Breakaway”. According to reports, it helped sell over 2.6 million downloads!
